County senior league semi Burgess 2:18 clonoulty 1:17 Congrats to the Seniors on tonight's win – since the team has reverted to a more direct, traditional style of play, both performances and results have significantly improved. Tonight's team (and scorers from memory): 1. Niall McGrath 2. John O'Dwyer 3. Brian Hogan 4. Peter Gill 5. Johnny Mulqueen (0-1) 6. Shane Maher (0-1) 7. Noel Gleeson 8. Michael O'Flaherty 9. Johnny Ryan 10. Tony Scroope (0-1) 11. Timmy Hogan (0-4) 12. Eoin 'Tossy' Hogan (0-1) 13. Eoin Hogan 14. Robbie Cremin 15. Stephen Murray (2-10; 2-2 from play) Sub Used: John O'Brien P.S. Shame on the County Board for charging an €8 entry fee into a single-header league game – talk about exploiting the genuine hurling supporter during what are recessionary times.

Referee: TBCResult: Burgess 1-18 Drom Inch 2-16 While today's result was obviously a disappointing one, the lads can hold their heads up high after putting in what was unquestionably their most complete performance of the season. The following is the Irish Examiner's take on Saturday's game: Callanan hero for Drom-Inch Tipperary SHC: Michael Dundon Monday, September 19, 2011 COUNTY star Seamus Callanan capped a sensational display with the winning score from a 90m injury time free to give Drom-Inch a 2-16 to 1-18 over Burgess in Saturday’s Tipperary SHC fourth round tie at Templemore. Although faced by former county colleague Shane Maher, Callanan was immense, scoring ten points. With his side reduced to 14 men following the dismissal of Liam Ryan on the stroke of half-time, Callanan took charge. An early David Butler goal settled a struggling Drom but Stephen Murray’s 15th minute goal from a 20m free had Burgess ahead 1-4 to 1-2. Veteran Seamus Butler netted for Drom in the 20th minute and though they lost Ryan, they were still ahead 2-6 to 1-7 at the break. Burgess were relentless in the second half. With Stephen Murray accurate from frees and play, they were level as the game went into injury time. Drom were awarded a free on their own 65m line which Callanan stroked over to book his side’s place in the last eight against Toomevara. match report from the Neagh guardian Callanan breaks Burgess hearts Burgess came so near but yet so far as an inspired Seamus Callanan provided the match-winning point deep into injury time to help fourteen man Drom & Inch advance to the quarter final of this year’s county senior hurling championship following a very exciting Round 4 game on Saturday afternoon. The North Tipp side were up against an inspired Callanan who provided a tally of ten points, five of them from play, four frees as well as one sideline cut. The Tipperary star answered his critics especially in the manner of his point scoring, from both play and frees with his final match winning free coming from his own 65 metre line and very close to the sideline. The sides were level at the time after Shane Maher had produced a great score, but Callanan’s winning score sent the Drom supporters into scenes of joy when the final whistle sounded, seconds later. Earlier in the first half, Burgess began well taking an early three point lead but lost it due to a goal after 12 minutes, regained in the 15th minute before conceding ground to with a second Drom goal in the 19th minute. By half time, Burgess trailed by 2-6 to 1-7 by which time the beaten Mid finalists were down to fourteen men when wing back Liam Ryan was dismissed for a straight red three minutes before the break following an off the ball incident. Within five minutes of the restart, Burgess were four in arrears but began to battle back with courage as they cut the deficit to one at least four times before Shane Maher leveled matters, four and a half minutes into added time. Ninety seconds later, Callanan fired over the winner and Burgess were left rue their chance of re-appearing in the quarter finals for the second year running. Burgess can thank Shane Maher who had a right good battle with Callanan while the backline never let the side down while Michael O’Flaherty and Eoin ‘Tossy’ Hogan shaded matters at midfield. Donagh Maher battled well on the edge of the square with Eoin Hogan and Damian O’Brien carrying the game to the opposition. Drom & Inch will now play Toomevara in the quarter final and they can call on Seamus Callanan and David Butler to carry the game to the opposition. David Collins, Declan Ryan and Pat Lupton also had their moments. At the start, Burgess had three early points by Donagh Maher, Tony Scroope and Stephen Murray. However Callanan replied with two points, one from a twenty meter free to get the Drom side off the mark. The beaten Mid finalists continued to create chances and took the lead with a goal in the 12th minute when David Butler got on to the end of a Liam Ryan clearance before firing low past Niall McGrath. Eoin Hogan replied with a point and the next Burgess move saw a Peter Gill clearance drop in the square which led to Donagh Maher being fouled. A point looked the best option for free-taker Stephen Murray but he elected to blast for goal and succeeded. Michael O’Flaherty then added a point for the North men. Seamus Callanan replied with a very good point in the 18th minute and one minute later, Seamus Butler found the Burgess net through a line of players waiting to pounce on the bouncing ball. Further points from David Butler and Callanan put Drom three points clear but Burgess finished the half with two Murray frees, the second following Liam Ryan’s dismissal. Yet despite the deficiency in numbers, Drom had enough time for Seamus Callanan to score from the wing leaving the half time score at Drom 2-6 Burgess 1-7. After the restart, Drom stretched their lead to four thanks to points by David Butler and Seamus Butler –which was brilliantly taken. Donagh Maher replied with an equally good score with David Collins in similar mode when replying for Drom. Burgess responded in style with three unanswered points in a four minute period, the first in the 39th through wing back Noel Gleeson with Stephen Murray adding two more, the first from play. Callanan and David Butler gave Drom a three-point lead (2-11 to 1-11) after 45 minutes only for Stephen Murray to reply with a free a minute later. Another Murray free narrowed the gap to one but Declan Ryan found the target for Drom with ten minutes of normal time remaining. The game was now in the balance as a Murray free left the minimum between the sides. Callanan replied with a similar score with the same player then adding a great score from play two minutes from time. Burgess hit back as Eoin Hogan and Tony Scroope narrowed the gap to one just on the hour. There was no let up in the drama. Seamus Callanan caught the resulting puckout and scored brilliantly but Burgess found time for a successful Murray free in added time. Shane Maher moved up to the attack and he brought the teams level in the 65th minute. However, one minute later, Drom won an important free from where Seamus Callanan grabbed the winner.
