Ok, an idea. Can we attempt to digitise and upload old recordings of burgess matches? I recommend www.vimeo.com to store the vids online as they allow videos of an hour in length to be uploaded, the challenge however will be converting from VHS to .mp4 etc.. Can everyone just post here what matches they've got at home so that we can put together a videography for converting and uploading

Great idea there are moves being made to upload matches to YouTube. Permision can be gotten from utube to put up longer than 15min videos as exemplified by the full m.o'm commentary version of the 2010 hurling final in the YouTube thread in the pool room board here. But yes this is a fantastic idea. The old man has a cubbard full of VHS tapes and I'd especially like the 1990 under 16 county final up for posterity

I'll post up what I find in the ould lads collection tomorrow. And if others can do the same we might be able to gauge the scale of it as a project. The clock is ticking on these videos and they could be lost forever if something isn't done. I will check into what is required to digitise them and at the very least get them stored digitally. feck it computer memory is cheap. Then I suppose we need to find the best online storage option. But first things first lets get them digitised.

OK I've had google. What seems to be required is,
1. computer (check) 2. VCR in good working order (I'm sure I can source one) 3. Video grabber cable + software (found a good looking bundle online for $34) 4. Clean spacious seperate hard drive (check, though probably worth backing this up to other peoples drives for safety)
I'm willing to take this on as a project. I'll work on gathering the bits and bobs required.

The one I found allowed for output in many different formats. I can't see what the out put options on this one are.

OK I have the video grabber I'll try to do a video tonight It'll probably be too big to upload to youtube so I'll log what I've digitised on this thread if anyone has anything in particular that they want put in a requst and I will do them first. I have set up a vimeo account in the name of Burgess Gaa (thanks Huxley10 have a Karma) and I will post up links to specific matches once they are uploaded this will be a slow process between converting them and uploading them and there is a 2GB upload limit per week.

I'm experiencing some technical difficulties with the grabber. I hope to have it resolved today.

I have digitised the u-12 north final 1994 Burgess v Borrisoleigh. I am trying to upload it now to vimeo.I will post the link when its finished. The vimeo site only allows 500mb upload + 1 HD video per week. This match 45mins approx worked out to 677mb at a high quality setting so hopefully it will upload. If not utube it is. ;D

Im digitising burgess v kildangan u14 1992. If anybody has suggestions free online video storage apart from vimeo which has a 500mb upload limit in it's basic mode and ground rent of $50 odd dollars a year for 10gb upload limit please let me know. I'll try breaking up the videos and putting them on utube but quality won't be great and I'd like people to be able to download the videos if they want

I've started uploading matches to utube. Watch for the threads in the General board for them as they go up. If anyone wants a digital copy of a match message me for details. I can also burn to DVD but there will be a cost implication. Still looking for an online storage solution if anyone has any ideas let me know.

I tried to do the 1999 u21 replay v toome but a powercut half way through put paid to that. The video quality was very poor. Does anyone have a better copy out there? Anyway I chopped up the 1990 u16 county final and set it to upload tonight. They links to that match will be up tomorrow.
