The year was 1991. Burgess marched through the u12 Roinn c north championship taking all opposition in their stride. Hopes were high for a talented young team and along the way, all most unnoticed, Burgess had dispatched Templederry handily. When the north final rolled around who were the opposition? Templederry so naturally victory was expected. What happened next was extraordinary Burgess were beaten convincingly by Templederry but there were certain things that didn't sit right. Why wouldn't their hairy players take off their helmets for the team photos? Why were there so many angry Mammies in Templederry? The reason. Templederry, shamefully, had fielded overage players, the hairy lads who wouldn't take off there helmets and the Mammies who's sons were dropped to make way for the hairy lads let the cat out of the bag. The championship was awarded to Burgess and Templederry put a stain on their colours. It's coming up on the 20th anniversary of this match and to mark it the board Will be posting up the full match in youtube clips tonight. Our team of visual editors are furiously choping it into 10 minute clips as I type this. Relive the day of infamy!

ah you legend! I remember bawling my eyes out crying in the dressing room afterwards. My memory of the match is being proud of doing a few overhead 'bats' of the ball (v.advanced U-12 Section C skill!) and seeing Timmy with his jersey hanging out at the back swashbuckling around the midfield like a mini-pirate hurler!
I also recall some serious needle in every subsequent match we played against them, especially an U-14 game three years on. Hatred? You bet.

Tipp v Kilkenny minor Camogie All Ireland 1990 is up. 5 Burgess women including the captain brought home the cup and derailed a Kilkenny drive for three. If you look closely at the presentation in part five the eagle eyed amongst you might be able to spot messer's "chinky" and "tossie" clambering atop the podium aged about 6 or 7.
u21 county final burgess v loughmore 1998 will be up by morning. Some amazing locker room and after match meal footage was discovered. well worth a look

Burgess v Toome 1998 minor A group match. The links will be in the Archive thread tomorrow the vids are uploading at the moment. This was a fine tough game of hurling and I'm led to believe it was also the first time we beat them in an underage A competition. No suprise then that alot of those involved are currently hurling senior and have also enjoyed beating them in that grade also. Here's hoping we see more of it!
